Alice English Wedding Singer | | I booked Alice English to sing and play the keyboard at my wedding earlier this year. She was booked to arrive 45 minutes before the ceremony started, so that the guests would have music to be seated to, and she would be there to sing as I walked down the aisle, and during the signing of the register.
She arrived at the venue so late that the first song she played was the one I walked down the aisle to. I was actually able to hear her doing a sound check as I was waiting outside, and I was 10 minutes late to my own ceremony. She then started playing the song before the registrar had introduced anything, and was still outside talking to me, so she had to run round the side of the ceremony room and begin the ceremony without introducing herself to our guests.
She played during the signing of the register, although she had a chest infection, so it wasn't great, and then as I was lucky enough to have a sunny day the guests went outside and heard no more of her. She gave my Step Dad who was pying the suppliers £50 back, unfortunately he didn't ask for more because he did not know exactly waht she was supposed to do. So she earned £250 for singing three songs, and did not offer anything else. I was very upset about her being so late as the ceremony is obviously the most important part of the day, and the bit that most brides want to go well.
Although I had seen Alice English at another wedding, and she was very pleasant in the email correspondance (albeit very slow) I would definately advise any other brides to stay well away from her. | Lydia Wood - 02/12/2009 |
