| Disappointing outcome |   | We actually made the tough decision to postpone our wedding this year due to finances and my pregnancy.
On first telling the hotel they were very understanding and the lady explained that she would try and carry over the £500 deposit to next year for us but a month later she got back to us and said the owner had refused this and would only let us use the deposit if we still got married in 2009, so unless we win the lottery it was pretty obvious this was unlikely as we had made a huge choice to tell people what we had done and was concentrating on our soon to be baby.
This was abit disappointing but like we said we may have lost £500 but we are in no major rush to go back there and have the choice to have a more low key wedding when we are ready (and I have my figure back) and he has lost thousands through the extra we would have had to pay, guests rooms and the bar.
Overall though the hotel is lovely with nice settings, the wedding coordinator and manager were friendly and helpful, Chef worked with our menu choice and overall upto our cancellation date everything was perfect
Would reccomend we just won't go back through principal and perhaps having a cheaper option now we are a family already. | | Helen Clarke - 22/08/2009 |  | | Beautiful setting | | The Holt Hotel is a lovely old hotel set in beautiful surrondings with lots of charm
The staff were very friendly from our first visit right through.
The chef was great and worked with us to get the menu we wanted and the food was fantastic on the day
Loved being able to have a photo of everyone taken on the patio as photographer went up in a room and looked down at us from a balcony.
Only downside like an venue the word wedding tripled the price, melon on their restaurant menu £4.95 as a wedding breaffast £7.95!!!
