Peckforton Castle | | when my hubby and i first went to Peckforton we knew immediately this was the place we wanted our big day to take place, the owner was very nice and showed us round. when we took our parents round now that we had signed up he didnt seem as bothered and parents were a little disappointed with his dis interest, we have numerous meeting and the wedding organiser was fantastic. the night before our wedding we stayed at the castle... the following morning we had the joys of trying to operate the shower...either scorching hot or freezing cold. not the best start.also my now in laws had to change rooms three times due to problems with their room.we had order our breakfast at an early meeting we were meant to have three english breakfast and the waiter brought two continental so when we advised there were three of us he told us to go to the restaurant and get it ourselves!!! quite an arrogant chap. anyway we rang reception and got another continental delivered! wedding reception went fine, accept that they were showing people round the venue and we even bumped into some people as we had just walked back down the aisle!!food wasnt as nice as the sample menu, but apart from that we had a lovely day and couldnt fault the majority of the staff, the wedding organisers; claire and mark went over and above the call of duty and were fantastic. would def recommend this venue as its makes the perfect fairytale setting! | Helen - 01/07/2009 | | Peckforton Castle - Buyer Beware | | When we booked our wedding at the castle, we were told that our guests would have access to rooms on a first come first serve basis. We were also told that because we were booking so far in advance, that all 32 rooms were currently available. As such, we gave the castle our credit card for a deposit. Our guests immediately attempted to book rooms and all were denied after the initial three. We spoke to the castle staff an immeasurable number of times who stated that they had a great number of rooms available, but were saving them in case another wedding wanted to book. The staff was reportedly in constant contact on the matter with the owner. The castle's final offer to us was to see whether or not rooms were available two weeks prior to our wedding and we would be allowed to book those rooms at that time. In the end, we obviously could not have wedding guests fly internationally and have no place to stay. So, we were forced to cancel our wedding. Ultimately, the castle owner and staff were unaccomodating and rude - and refused to refund our deposit of over $4,000. | Shane Foreman - 07/12/2008 | | Not as bad as some reviews make out | | We were concerned about having our wedding here as there was some negative reviews out there but I want to tell everyone not to listen.
Our wedding reception was perfect. The food lovely and presented well, the staff weren't the best and there was comments made that a certain waitress wasn't very accommodating but overall a lovely day.
